About Hordeolum



Hordeolum (nodule) is an infection in one or more glands
at the edge or under the eyelid.
May form more than 1 hordeolum at the same time.
Hordeolum usually occur within several days and can heal spontaneously.

CAUSE

Hordeolum is an acute infection of oil glands in the eyelid
caused by bacteria from the skin (usually caused by staphylococcal bacteria).
Hordeolum same as acne on the skin.
Hordeolum sometimes occur simultaneously with or after blefaritis.
Hordeolum can arise repeatedly.

SYMPTOMS

Hordeolum usually start as red, tender and painful
on the edge of the eyelid.
The eyes may be watery, sensitive to bright light and sufferers feel there
something in his eyes.
Usually only a small area of the eyelid is swollen, but
sometimes the entire eyelid swells.
In the middle of the swollen area often looks small, yellowish spots.
May form an abscess (pus pocket) that tend to rupture and release
number of pus.

TREATMENT

Hordeolum can be treated with warm compresses for 10 minutes 4 times / day.
Do not try to solve hordeolum, let alone broken.
Antibiotic cream is sometimes used for recurrent or hordeolum
settle (which is caused by bacteria).
Hordeolum internal Hordeolum is formed in the deeper glands.
More severe symptoms and rarely broken its own, because it is usually the doctor will
to cut it so the pus out.

PREVENTION
Make sure your hands and equipment associated with the eye makeup
always clean / sterile
Always wash your hands first before touching the skin around the eyes.
Clean the eyelid area on a regular basis, to eliminate
dust and oil that accumulates, gradually.
